Dame di Cartone by Christian Tagliavini
Dame di Cartone (‘Cardboard ladies’) is the name of the artistic project envisioned by the brilliant Swiss-Italian photographer Christian Tagliavini, which features portraits of women that recreate looks from famous historical paintings. What makes it so interesting, is the fact that the women wear dresses made of paper and cupboard instead of fabric, each of the dresses mimicking the styles reminiscent of the 17th century, cubism as well as the 1950’s fashion. Christian envisions the whole process himself, so besides lensing the portraits, he was responsible for making the patterns and constructing the whole outfits.
