Frances Baker Autumn Winter 2012 lookbook
We know that you enjoy the hot summery sun to the max at the moment and that the cold, wintry season is the last thing that comes on your mind, but a little inspiration for the upcoming chilly days can always come in handy. Our choice this time is the gorgeous line by Frances Baker, which we are totally head over heels with. What Frances wowed us with this time is a parade of utterly stylish and truly adorable pieces made of eco friendly fabrics, some of them hand- printed by her friend Sarah Adkins.
“Sarah is a super talented illustrator and graphic designer (as well as all round creative genius really) and I am so in love with the autumn-themed prints she came up with. Knowing that each dress or skirt is individually hand printed, to me adds even more meaning to the idea of the clothing being handmade. Maybe it helps that it is a collaboration between two friends, but it feels so very personal,” Frances says.
The collection abounds with lovely jumper dresses, cute blouses with Peter Pan collars, sweet skirts and cropped sweaters whose vintage vibe is truly captivating.
“My ultimate goal is to make clothing that is practical as well as beautiful: simple, comfortable dresses that you can love and wear over and over again. It is these kinds of items that you want to hold onto forever that I try my very best to design for Frances Baker,” is how the designer describes the line, adding “I started Frances Baker out of my passion for beautiful, well made clothing that you can truly love and use in your everyday life; I am fascinated by the potential for clothing and outfits to evoke memories and moods! I try to run Frances Baker according to my own views that clothing should be long lasting, reflective of individual style and creativity rather than trends, and be at minimal cost to the environment.”
