It’s HOODIE time
Judging by the streets of the world’s most stylish capitals…It’s definitely HOODIE time. Everyone seems to be wearing them. The good old Hoodie sweatshirt has certainly been resurrected and it’s become the perfect staple for the cool and chic winter layering. Observing the most popular fashion weeks round the world, we cannot but conclude that they are flooded with showgoers dressed in hoodies cleverly mixed and matched with sporty yet elegant pieces, showcasing the 2017’s popular athletic elegance look. They may seem sporty and casual, but most of the hoodies strolling the fashion weeks are not any type of hoodies… many of them and very expencive and lux Vetements hoodies. The label has created themed hoodie sweatshirts whose pricetag goes around $ 800, but even though the price may seem gigantic for some, many of their hoodies are already sold out. However, you may not spend a fortune over this item and then feel guilty about it…You may find affordable versions of it at every corner and still look fashionable and chic. Emma Morrison, the Vogue Market Editor will certainly agree with us. During the New York Fashion Week, she donned an old school Champion hoodie, one with a relatively low price tag on.
“I always prefer the $10 hoodie. As much as I love the fashion iteration, it’s starting to feel ridiculous to pay so much money for a revision of a classic,” says Morrison. “At the end of the day, it is so much cooler to pull off the real deal. Who wants to be precious with something that is inherently supposed to be so casual?” , adding her styling trick “My tip for making them look anonymous instead of cheap: Pull out the drawstrings!”.
When it comes to styling it, the hoodie seems to be mixed and matched with almost everything…Since it’s still winter and the layering is a must, most of the fashionisitas are wearing it under a massive oversized coats, biker, bomber and distressed denim jackets, and those willing to experiment pair it with elegant dresses and feminine skirts at the bottom, creating the stylish, casual chic look. Rihanna and Rita Ora and just a few of the celebrities sporting it, but also a parade of models bloggers, stylists and fashion admirers. Hari Nef, Pernille Teisbaek, Ruth Bell, Issa Lish, Binx Walton, Ana Cristina, Anne-Catherine Frey have had their take on it, and they all seems effortlessly cool and chic.
