‘ The Little Black Jacket: Chanel Classic Revisited’ is the name of Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld’s upcoming book that we are all eagerly waiting to be released in August this year. Dedicated to Chanel’s iconic tweed jacket that has its debut back in 1954, the book includes 113 photographs of editors, models, designers, celebrities and iT girl, all of them wearing this item in their own unique way. Sarah Jessica Parker, Anna Wintour, Alexa Chung, Elle Fanning, Clémence Poésy, Daphne Guinness, Vanessa Paradis, Charlotte Casiraghi, Georgia May Jagger, Alexander Wang, Kanye West, Freja Beha Erichsen are just a few of the big names that appear in the series of captivating black and white images lensed by the brilliant Karl Lagerfeld.
When asked about the jacket in an interview for Gotham Magazine, Karl would say “every designer dreams of designing the Chanel jacket. It’s up there with jeans or the T-shirt; it’s gender-neutral. That is to say, it can be womenswear or menswear” …Adding that “eternal can only last if it stays up-to-date [and for] this reason, the jacket is eternal.
