The timeless bomber jacket

The item that was a fashion staple among the punks and skinheads in the past, has certainly gone into mainstream and has become one of the most popular pieces in 2016, the cool and edgy BOMBER JACKET. Punks loved to match it with a ripped t-shirt and cuffed skinny jeans and Doc Martens, and now it seems to go with anything you want. Last year it came in a thousand interpretations, from the embellished Gucci ones to the glam looking velvet bombers from Haider Ackermann…and what’s even more interesting, it was equally popular both among men and women.

Even though it has reached its peak popularity last year, this trend is here to stay, and it’s gonna be huge in 2017 too. Whan asked what styles are about to hit the markets this year, Wayne Gross, Fashion Director at East Dane would say:

“We’ve moved away from the padded bomber to a lighter weight, trans-seasonal version for spring. Satin is big for us. The nice thing about this version of the jacket is that it’s more versatile, allowing you to treat it like an outerwear staple or a layering piece depending on the weather.
We’ve also started to move away from the embellished styles, choosing to offer our customer more timeless, classic versions. We think the varsity jacket-inspired versions will be big in 2017. A two-tone style bomber looks so cool with a classic white T-shirt and jeans; think: James Dean and Marlon Brando circa early 1950s.”
